About the Beach series
Martina Büttner paints real and realistic, but her painting does not match reality. Only at the first glance, her paintings appear like a reproduction of reality. Because her images are more than visible reality. (…) Indeed real people are in real places with real objects, but something does not fit together. This is already the known game: what does not fit into the range? Apple, pear, pot, plum. So what comnfuses the observer? The right people in the wrong place? Or – the right place with unsuitable people?
